With a helping hand from the children at Braddock Primary school

We had a fantastic day with the children from a local primary school who helped us harvest the apples in our apple orchard.

Joined by the wonderful Louise and Adrian from Rame Head Apple Juice who showed the children how to process the apples using a traditional apple press and discussed the importance of reducing food waste by using apple peel for fertiliser. Everyone sampled the juice from their apples and gave it a resounding thumbs up.

We asked the children to bring their own bags and they filled them to the brim; some were too heavy to carry back to the school bus!

They had a bounty of apples to take home for making into apple crumble and for their lunch boxes and really enjoyed getting out of the classroom to learn about apple harvesting.
