There are so many inspiring women who are passionate about their work here at Boconnoc.

We are a small, hands on team who support each other to live our values; being open, honest and fair in everything we do.

This International Women’s Day we chatted to the wonderful Georgia from our office team about her apprenticeship with Boconnoc. We find out why she enjoys working for a busy estate and how she unwinds after a day at the office.

Hi Georgia, tell us about your apprenticeship, how did it come about?

After studying for a Level 3 diploma in Business at Cornwall College I was working at a local pub, and although I enjoyed it, I really wanted to find a role that would give me an opportunity to progress. I had previously heard about apprenticeships and thought it would be a fantastic way to work with a business that I admired.  I found the apprenticeship at Boconnoc advertised by Cornwall College on the Government website and applied for it.

Why did you want to do an apprenticeship with Boconnoc?

I really wanted to work for a business that valued its team members, with a small team where I can learn from others and not have the pressure to know it all straight away, it’s great to be able to have the freedom to make mistakes and learn from them.

How long was your apprenticeship for?

My apprenticeship lasted for one year, after which I was thrilled to be offered a full-time position as Property & Office Assistant at Boconnoc.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I love the challenges that working for a busy estate brings, every day is different, and you have to think on your feet! The team are great and I feel valued here. I’ve learnt so much since I’ve been at Boconnoc and had lots of new experiences.

The best part for me is the sense of accomplishment my work brings, and the fact that I look forward to coming to work each day, that’s pretty hard to find I think.

It’s also a privilege to work in such a beautiful location, there aren’t many workplaces with such a stunning view from the office window.

Would you recommend apprenticeships?

Absolutely! My apprenticeship has given me so much confidence. I feel it’s the best way to gain valuable experience within a workplace and gives you the chance to get a foot in the door. It can offer so many great opportunities.

How do you unwind after a busy week at work?

I love going to music gigs and walking my dogs, in the summer I enjoy paddle boarding and spending time outdoors.

I also really enjoy going on holidays, exploring new places and reading crime novels.

Any plans for the future?

I’m not sure, whatever I end up doing I’ll be staying in Cornwall. My heart is here.
